our values

at BOY sustainability means treating people and the planet with respect, creating quality, timeless pieces with a commitment to sustainable and ethical production; allowing parents to purchase pieces that are produced in a way that is kind to the environment; pieces that are comfortable, well made and durable, that can be well worn and much loved.

ethically made

at BOY we support fair wages, child free labor and workers rights. 100% of our collections are dyed, cut and sewn in sydney, australia. by supporting our local industry we can work through each and every step of the process along side our makers. the foundation of our business philosophy is the relationships we establish and maintain with our local suppliers. knowing our makers are being paid fair wages in fair working conditions all while minimising our carbon footprint, is of central importance to us.

our aim is to be small and slow, we do not mass produce our garments. our garments are made sustainably in small limited runs to prevent garment and fabric waste. we keep mother earth in mind. we focus on craftsmanship and our environmental impact…no fast fashion - we are here for the long run.

sustainable fabrics

with a commitment to sustainable production, all of our garments are only made using 100% organic, natural and recycled fabrics:

organic cotton

we use GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton fabric made using 100% GOTS certified organic cotton grown in India. it is exported to Australia where the fabric is knitted and finished at ABMT in Melton, Victoria. organic cotton is biodegradable and produced without the use of pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or genetic modification. around 80% of the global crop is rain-fed making it better for the climate, building soil fertility and enabling organic farmers help lock in co2.

regenerated nylon

at BOY we support healthier oceans. our rash vest fabric is made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon. ECONYL® yarn consists of pre and post-consumer nylon waste material including fishing nets, discarded carpets, plastic components and fabrics scraps to make environmentally friendly swim fabric. since 2013, ECONYL® have worked with Healthy Seas to remove 160 tons of fishing nets from the world’s oceans and turned them into yarn.

regenerated plastic bottles

our board short fabric is made from ECORPET® which is made from 100% recycled PET plastic bottles. ECORPET® is a new reusable and sustainable fabric made from breaking down, melting and spinning recycled plastic bottles into thread - saving them from landfill and removing them from the ocean.

merino wool

we use merino wool because it's perfect for adventure and play. It is naturally thinner and softer than regular wool - making it non irritating for little ones. merino wool is also a natural, breathable and renewable fibre with low environmental impact. it’s sustainable in every way.

linen

we use linen because it is naturally sustainable. it is derived from the fast-growing flax plant which thrives without the need for pesticides and has a low water footprint.

 packaging

at BOY, we want to ensure that it's not only our garments that are sustainably made in every way, but that getting them to you, is done in the most sustainable way, too.

all of our paper from swing tags, stickers to tissue paper is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved. FSC ensures forests are managed in a way that takes care of the animals and plants who inhabit it, and the workers and local communities who rely on forests. all our paper packaging is acid free and printed with soy-based and petroleum-free inks and designed to be entirely recyclable.

once the garment is all wrapped and ready, it heads off to it’s new home in biodegradable packaging by The Better Packaging Co. which is plant based and 100% home compostable.
